Powermatic 14″ Band Saw
A Short History of Powermatic

Like so many companies Powermatic was started by an entrepreneur looking for a solution to a problem. Leonard F. Smith Jr., a seller of rough cut lumber in 1921, believed he could get a better price for his lumber if it had a smoother surface. He set off to design and build a lumber planer for his business. His machine was seen by other lumbermen in the business and Mr. Smith built and sold them planers. Thus began the journey of the Powermatic name and product line. Today Powermatic produces one of the best lines of power tools manufactured.
This PWBS-14CS Band Saw has an extra-large, two-piece cast-iron table. It consists of a 15″ x 15″ tilting section and a fixed 15″ x 5″ extension for a total working surface area of 15″ x 20″. A balanced, nine spoke cast-iron wheel makes for smooth blade travel, and a CARTER™ quick tension release lever makes blade changing easy. A micro-adjustable dual bearing blade guide system is featured above and below the table. A work lamp and chip blower improves the working conditions around the saw. A Poly-V belt maximizes power transmission while minimizing noise and vibration. The saw has a full 6″ under-guide capacity with a 13-1/2″ frame-to-blade clearance.
We believe the Powermatic Band Saw is one of the best buys on the market. With that in mind we periodically check the prices, and this is one of the the lowest prices available from a top rated supplier.
